A school in Ipswich has been shut after a "direct threat" was received.
Suffolk Police said officers were called at 07:20 GMT after receiving reports of malicious communications to Stoke High School in Maidenhall Approach.
Parents were alerted to the threat in an email and as a precaution the school would be closed to "keep everyone safe".
Investigations are ongoing but it is thought to be a hoax, police said.
Ormiston Academies Trust, which runs the school, has been contacted for comment.
The email to parents said: "This morning we have received a direct threat to the school.
"We treat every situation with the utmost caution, and are following the necessary procedures in line with our safety protocols, as the health and safety of our students and staff remains our leading priority.
"We are working closely with the police and relevant authorities to support their investigation and ensure that all safety procedures are followed.
"As a result of this, we have made the decision to close the school today in order to keep everyone safe."Suffolk Police acting inspector Colin Clack said: "Officers are at the scene, however we ask the public not to be alarmed. We are there to ensure public safety and provide reassurance to the school and local community."
