Fire closes Suffolk One sixth form college near Ipswich

A sixth form college has been forced to close for the day following a fire.
It broke out in the early hours of Friday morning in a kitchen area at Suffolk One on the edge of Ipswich.
The college said the damage was "relatively minor" but the sprinkler system had sprayed "a significant quantity of water" into the Turquoise Zone in the building.
Suffolk Fire Service has told the college to close, external on Friday so sprinkler tanks can be refilled.
Jake Robson, college principal, said the water damage was "quite contained to the kitchen so there's going to be an interruption to catering and we'll work through today to arrange alternative provision.
"We've cancelled lessons while we allow our managers and staff to assess the situation [but] we are very confident that teaching will resume from Monday."
A culture event for Ramadan that was scheduled for Friday has been cancelled.
"We've been planning that for several months and we had all sorts of exciting local guests," said Mr Robson.
"I'm very disappointed because all of that is set up, the college is decorated, everything looking wonderful and we're not going to be able to continue with that today, but we'll look to reschedule as soon as we possibly can."
