Construction work on a new £7.5m leisure centre in Horley is set to begin next month after contractors were appointed by the local council.

The building will be on the site of the former Court Lodge Secondary School and should open in January 2012.

It will replace the Horley Anderson Centre, which will remain open until the new building is complete.

Proposals for the centre include a 25m swimming pool, fitness suite and dance studio.

Adam De Save, the executive member for leisure, said he was confident it would meet the needs of the community.

The new facility will also be home to Horley Town FC.
