Concerns over Dorking library relocation plan

  • Published

Plans to move Dorking library have been deferred after the local council received more than 20 letters from concerned residents.

Surrey County Council wants to move the facility from Pippbrook House in Reigate Road to St Martin's Walk.

Mole Valley District Council owns the building and members were due to discuss the proposal on Wednesday.

It said the meeting had been deferred to allow members of the public to speak on the subject.

The application will now be heard on 1 September.

Councillor Clare Curran said: "Throughout this application, the council's main priority has always been to act in residents', the town's and the environment's best interest.

"The council is committed to protecting the character of our environment and engaging with the community. We listen to what is said and, where possible, act on the wishes of our residents."
