A woman has appeared in court by video link accused of murdering her estranged husband in Surrey.

Sally Challen, 56, is charged with the murder of Richard Challen at his home in Claygate, near Esher.

The body of Mr Challen, 61, was found on 15 August. A post-mortem examination found he died of "severe blunt force trauma to the head".

Mrs Challen appeared by video link from HMP Bronzefield for a preliminary hearing at Guildford Crown Court.

She was remanded in custody until a plea and case management hearing at the same court on 22 October.

Mr Challen, who was the retired owner of a car dealership in Richmond, south-west London, lived alone at his property in Ruxley Ridge.
