Patients have been warned of inevitable traffic congestion and travel delays

Work to replace a main gas pipe outside a Surrey hospital has led to warnings to patients to allow extra travel time.

Southern Gas Networks are starting work outside Frimley Park Hospital on Tuesday and the scheme will continue for seven to nine weeks.

The hospital said there would inevitably be traffic congestion and delays from both directions and traffic lights would be put in place.

The NHS trust said the Portsmouth Road pedestrian crossing would be suspended.
