Staff had metal ball bearings fired at them by catapult during a "despicable attack" at a car wash in Surrey.

The workers suffered welts to their arms and backs during the incident in Guildford Road, Farnham.

Officers said the employees were attacked when they challenged three men in a Subaru Impreza who started using washing equipment without permission.

Surrey Police have just released details of the attack which happened on 16 November.

'Despicable and unexpected'

Officers said one of the men also wielded a pitchfork at the car wash staff during the incident.

PC Emma Lemon, investigating, said: "This was a despicable and unexpected attack on two staff members who were simply trying to do their jobs.

"I would appeal to anyone who recognises the descriptions of these suspects or believes they may have seen them or the vehicle following the incident."

The suspects are all described as white and believed to be aged in their mid to late 20s.

The first man was described as being of slim build, about 6ft tall, with short light-coloured red hair. He was wearing a dark-coloured top and jogging bottoms.
