Caterham's Rose and Young site gets improvement order

The owner of a run-down former garage in Surrey has been served with a legal notice requiring significant improvements or demolition.

Tandridge District Council said it was unhappy with the state of the building and land at the Rose and Young site in Croydon Road, Caterham.

The garage has been unoccupied for many years and the council wants to see it redeveloped.

It has previously said it would be prepared to pursue compulsory purchase.

Unless an appeal is lodged, the legal notice, served on Thursday, will come into effect after 28 days.

The owner has four months to complete the work.
