'Guilfest replacement' Magic Summer Live 2013 books acts

Jamiroquai are booked to headline Magic Summer Live 2013

A replacement for a summer festival in Guildford has been found after the company which ran Guilfest went into liquidation.

Magic Summer Live 2013 will be held in Stoke Park on 13 and 14 July.

The organisers Live Nation and Magic 105.4 have booked Bryan Adams and Jamiroquai to headline and hope to attract 25,000 people each day.

Scotty Events, which ran Guilfest, went into liquidation in September blaming poor ticket sales in 2012.

The company was left with debts of around £300,00 which it blamed on the worst weather conditions in the event's history, which turned the site into a quagmire.

'Extremely popular'

Guildford Borough Council said it hoped the new festival would remain a "family focused" event like Guilfest.

Councillor Jen Powell, lead councillor for sport, culture and leisure, said: "Guilfest was extremely popular for over 20 years and provided a boost to tourism and the local economy.

"Live Nation will bring high quality entertainment to Stoke Park and provide a new opportunity to enjoy live music in the borough."

Alongside the main stage there will be a West End stage with performances from musicals and shows.
