Royal Horticultural Society ambassador and Great British Bake Off judge Mary Berry has opened the 2014 RHS Wisley Flower Show in Surrey.

As well as exhibits by RHS Chelsea and Hampton Court Palace Flower Show medal winners, specialist nurseries and garden trade stands, the horticultural event also features the National Dahlia Society Annual Show.

More than 100 dahlia exhibitors are vying for top prizes, showcasing the best in cultivation and colour.

Some 40,000 visitors are expected to attend the six-day floral extravaganza, which started on Tuesday and ends on Sunday.

Exhibitor Penny Cunnington wore a floral display in her hat at the show.

Floral decorator Simon Lycett created the giant cake that took centre stage at the show's opening.
