Cladding replaced on Addlestone One apartments

Cladding on an apartment block in Addlestone has been replaced earlier than expected.
In the six years since the Grenfell Tower fire, unsafe cladding has been removed from residential buildings across the UK.
A Runneymede Borough Council external fire survey in 2021 found cladding needed to be replaced on the Addlestone One building in the town centre.
The council said the work had been completed two months ahead of schedule.
Leader of the council, Tom Gracey, told BBC Radio Surrey it was "gratifying" to see the work completed.
'Peace of mind'
Addlestone One was built by the council in 2017 and 2018 with the cladding used on the apartment building deemed safe when it was originally constructed.
Councillor Gracey said: "My priority was, certainly, given the understandable levels of concern, to ensure that the residents would have peace of mind."
He added that the full cost of the repairs would be published in their budgets and accounts next year.
