Land has been transferred to Surrey County Council for road works to increase capacity

The redevelopment of a former army barracks in Surrey can continue, after two councils exchanged a piece of land.

Planning permission for the 1,200 home development at the Princess Royal Barracks in Deepcut was granted on the condition that highway infrastructure work was carried out.

Surrey Heath Borough Council gave 120.8 sq m of land to Surrey County Council.

It means highway works will now be able to take place in order to accommodate the influx in residents.

The borough council said new traffic measures were a "necessity".

The plan, which involved transferring the land, was approved in 2021 to be triggered when the Deepcut development reached 600 homes.
