Four new slip roads could help improve traffic around an M25 junction which is undergoing redevelopment, a National Highways official said.

Jonathan Wade, project manager for the expansion of the M25's junction 10, said the roads would open in spring.

Thousands of people have faced delays due to motorway roadworks as part of a £317m project.

Junction 10 is the busiest section of the M25, with over 300,000 vehicles travelling through each day.

The overall plans involve widening the motorway at junction 10, near Wisley, and the adjoining A3 from three to four lanes.

The junction has one of the highest recorded collision rates across England's motorways and major A roads.

The project is due to be completed in Summer 2025 but Mr Wade said that travellers would see "some benefits" from the four new slip roads.

Mr Wade told BBC Radio Surrey the slip roads would help people travel from Gatwick to Guildford and Gatwick to Heathrow "without stopping".

He added they would "avoid the traffic lights at junction 10".

While the slip roads will benefit some travellers, there will be closures of the M25 and A3 in 2024.
