Parking at a Surrey hospital is being significantly reduced for three months as a new diagnostic centre is built.

Only Blue Badge holders will be able to park at Woking Community Hospital (WCH) until the end of March.

The NHS Foundation Trust said the new diagnostic centre is expected to prevent the need for 30,000 hospital visits outside Woking annually.

The accessible WCH on-site car park was previously open 24-hours a day and had 157 spaces.

WCH said alternative parking for staff was being finalised. The nearest alternative carpark is Heathside Crescent carpark, which is a five-minute walk away.

The Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, who are developing the diagnostic centre, said Woking residents were travelling out of town for the "majority" of diagnostic outpatient appointments.

The new centre will offer CT and MRI scans, as well as expanded ultrasound scanning capacity.
