Plans for a replacement skatepark in a Surrey village have received more than 150 letters of support.

Cobham Residents' Association was among those to speak positively of the plans for Leg O'Mutton playing field.

The applicant said a contemporary site was vital to support the existing community and encourage skateboarding, wheelchair sports and BMX in future generations.

Application documents said: "Cobham has a passionate wheeled sport community.

"The existing skatepark has an outdated design with minimal opportunity to flow between features and learn or practice new tricks."

Two letters of objection raised concerns about the increased size of the planned facilities and the design being "more in keeping with an urban environment than a village in the country".

The application is set to be decided by Elmbridge Borough Council's planning committee on Tuesday.
