A 44-year-old man from Epsom was arrested on suspicion of murder

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder by police investigating a man's death in Surrey.

Surrey Police officers were called to Eleanor Avenue, Epsom, at 21:00 GMT on Wednesday.

South East Coast Ambulance Service attended and a 47-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 44-year-old man from Epsom was arrested on Wednesday and remains in custody.

Senior investigating officer Det Ch Insp Craig Emmerson said: "The investigation is in the early stages and a specialist team of officers are working around the clock to follow up enquiries.

"At this time I can share that we believe this is an isolated incident which poses no risks to the wider public."

There remains a significant police presence in the area, he added.
