Guildford: Ella Henderson goes busking with music college
- Published
Pop star Ella Henderson joined forces with a local music college for a rare busking performance in Guildford town centre.
The Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM) provided backing vocals for the two tracks they performed.
One of the students who joined her told BBC Radio Surrey it was "an amazing experience".
Oli Austen from ACM organised the performance and said more than 100 people were supporting by the end.
Mr Austen said Ella and her team approached the academy the night before to see if they could organise the busking event as a way to promote her new single.
He said: "I used to play in a band that she did a feature single with and one of our student mentors did production for her back in the day, also her manager is an ex-ACM business graduate."
Sophie, one of the students who joined Ella in Guildford, said: "I've never been busking before but I really loved doing it, especially with Ella."
"As aspiring musicians ourselves I think it was really awesome to just gain that experience with her."
The X Factor star and ACM rehearsed both tracks twice before the performance and Oli said Henderson "killed it straight away".
Mr Austen said Ella was "really impressed with ACM as an institution" and they hoped she would come back to the academy to lead a masterclass.
He said: "There's no huge fees for us that we can offer but you find that people are really excited about coming and seeing the new regeneration and giving back."
