West Sussex broadband campaign targeting businesses
- Published
A county council campaign for faster broadband services across West Sussex is moving forward.
The local authority is running a second survey to gather information and use it to persuade internet service providers to invest in the area.
It surveyed 2,000 residents at the end of last year, and is now doing the same with businesses.
Councillor Deborah Urquhart said: "The internet is vital for many businesses, especially those run from home."
She said that as superfast broadband was rolled out across the UK there was a risk some areas could be left behind.
"We want to help local businesses and the local economy to benefit from the opportunities a fast broadband connection can bring." she added.
The council has recently reached a deal with BT to bring faster broadband to parts of the Bognor Regis area, after 84% of people responded to the residents' survey and said their service was too slow.
