Police are hunting for two women and a man after a Jack Russell dog suffered serious injuries when it was attacked by three other dogs.

The Jack Russell was being walked by its female owner when it was mauled outside the community centre in Holly Place, Eastbourne, on Friday night.

The woman suffered a puncture wound to her finger when she tried to prevent the attack, between 2100 and 2130 GMT.

She told police she had heard people shouting before it happened.

Life-threatening

One of the dogs, which were described as resembling Staffordshire bull terriers, was cream in colour, while the others were brown and white.

Two women and a man were with them.

One of the women was about 5ft 6in tall, of stocky build, and aged in her early 20s, with short bobbed blonde hair. She was wearing jeans and a jumper.

The second woman was of the same age, with long dark coloured hair.

The man had short dark hair and was of a slim build.

The Jack Russell is being treated in an animal hospital for life threatening injuries.
