Bosham murder inquiry after woman found dead

A murder inquiry has been launched after a woman was found dead in West Sussex.

She was discovered with a serious head injury at a house in Smuggler's Lane in Bosham, near Chichester, at 09:50 GMT on Monday, police said.

The woman, 55, has not yet been formally identified.

Det Ch Insp Jon Fanner appealed for anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area on Sunday or Monday to contact the force.

"This is a rare incident for Bosham, which is a safe area," he said.

"We have increased our neighbourhood policing patrols in the village and if anyone has any information or concerns, I would urge them to speak to one of the officers who are there."
