There are four flood warnings in place in parts of Sussex as high tides combine with rain and strong winds.

The Environment Agency has issued flood warnings for Shoreham Harbour, Sidlesham and Littlehampton Rope Walk, and between Bosham and West Itchenor.

There are also 13 alerts in place in other coastal areas and on the Arun, Cuckmere and Ouse rivers.

Members of the public have been urged to stay away from the coastline, coastal paths and promenades.

High tides, large waves, and coastal flooding with gale force winds have been predicted over the next 24 hours.

People in coastal areas have been urged to avoid the water's edge as there is an increased risk of being swept out to sea.

Brighton and Hove City Council also said last week's storms had changed the shape of the beach, making it extremely steep and dangerous in parts.

The stormy weather has caused delays between Gatwick Airport in West Sussex and East Croydon in south London.

Flooding has also blocked the A29 in Pulborough and Bognor Regis.

The Environment Agency said recent heavy rain, saturated ground and high river levels meant there was also a continued risk of river and surface water flooding across the region.
