In pictures: Constable's views from Petworth on display
- Published

Best known for his oil paintings, John Constable visited Petworth House in 1834 where he created watercolours and drawings, including this one of Petworth church and windmill, with Petworth House beyond

More than 40 of his works are on show together for the first time at Petworth House, including his watercolour of Chichester Cathedral

Constable visited and painted many popular attractions, including Cowdray House

This pencil and watercolour composition, showing Fittleworth Mill, is among the collection on show at the National Trust property

Most of the works, including this painting of Hove beach, are on loan from the Victoria and Albert Museum and the British Museum

Andrew Loukes, curator of the exhibition, said: "Although Petworth is famous for its links with JMW Turner, it is less widely known that his great contemporary also spent time here."

The exhibition, including this painting of Petworth Park, is open at the West Sussex house between 11 January and 14 March
