Shoreham air crash messages preserved in archive

Nearly 2,000 messages left after last year's Shoreham air show disaster when a vintage jet crashed, killing 11 men, have been preserved.

The tributes were laid at Shoreham Toll Bridge, which became the focus of the West Sussex town's grief after the crash.

Families of those who lost their lives asked that they should be kept and they are now in West Sussex County Council's records office in Chichester.

Archivist Wendy Walker said the messages were very wet and it took three to four months to dry them off.

The archive will be available online from Monday, the first anniversary of the crash.
