A huge blaze has erupted at a waste management centre in Lewes, East Sussex.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said 200 tonnes of scrap metal caught fire at Light Bros depot shortly before 19:30 GMT on Thursday.

Plumes of black smoke can be seen for miles around the scene of the blaze.

The A27 was closed in both directions between Beddingham roundabout and Southerham roundabout.

People living nearby were warned to close their windows because of smoke. Travellers at a nearby site have been evacuated.
