An investigation has been launched into the cause of a house fire in Hawkhurst Road, Brighton

An investigation has been launched into the cause of a house fire in East Sussex.

Six fire engines, an aerial latter platform and several officers were called to the blaze in the roof of a property in Hawkhurst Road, Brighton, at 15:03 GMT on Tuesday.

There were no reports of injuries, East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS).

Members of the public were asked to avoid the area and keep windows and doors closed to avoid the smoke.

Crews carried out an inspection at about 19:00 to ensure the fire was completely out and firefighting operations were completed.

"The cause of the fire is being investigated," an ESFRS spokesman said.
