Police investigating a suspected murder are searching for a driver and vehicle after a man was killed in a hit-and-run crash in East Sussex.

A black vehicle hit the pedestrian in Diplocks Walk, Hailsham, at 23:00 GMT on Saturday, Sussex Police said.

A 24-year-old man died at the scene and his next of kin had been told, the force said.

Officers are still searching for the vehicle and driver and appealed for any CCTV or dashcam footage.

Det Ch Insp Andy Harbour said: "This is a fast-moving investigation and we are working around the clock to establish exactly what happened.

"There were a number of people in the area around the time of the incident, and I am urging anyone with any information to please come forward."

The force is specifically interested in seeing any CCTV or dashcam footage.

A large police presence is expected in the area as enquiries continue.
