The Red Arrows will not perform at Eastbourne's Airbourne in 2024, it has been announced.

Eastbourne Borough Council, external (EBC) said this was due to "overseas commitments" from the end of July.

Airbourne, which had a two-year break due to the pandemic, will be held in 2024 from 15-18 August.

On Thursday it was announced that the 2024 Folkestone Air Display had been cancelled because of the Red Arrows being unavailable.

EBC said: "While the absence of the Red Arrows at the 2024 air show is a loss, it opens exciting opportunities to introduce fresh, never seen before aerial displays to Eastbourne.

"In 2019, when the Red Arrows were away for their international tour, the debut of the Breitling Jets Team in Eastbourne created an unforgettable experience for air show enthusiasts.

"Our events team is once again engaging with multiple teams to bring thrilling new displays to Eastbourne."

More updates on the show's flying line-up are set to be confirmed in the new year.

The display team cancelled its first display at the air show last year due to "continued technical issues".

The Red Arrows have been contacted for a comment.
