Car hits tree in Liphook: Man dies, children and driver injured

Two boys and the driver of the car were taken to hospital

A man has died and two children were injured along with a driver when the car they were in left a road and struck a tree.

The crash happened on the B2070 Portsmouth Road near Liphook at 15:00 GMT on Friday.

One of the passengers, a 44-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene, Sussex Police said.

Two boys in the rear of the vehicle, aged 12 and 14, were injured and taken to the Royal Surrey County Hospital.

The driver, a 49-year-old man, suffered serious injuries and was transferred to Southampton General Hospital.

Police said the car came off the southbound dual-carriageway section, near to Rockfield Lodge.

All four occupants of the silver Jaguar were from the Liss area of Hampshire.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the crash to come forward.
