An investigation into the death of a woman after a fire in East Sussex has concluded she died of natural causes.

The 99-year-old woman died after being taken to hospital as a precautionary measure following the blaze in St Marks Close, Bexhill, on 13 November.

A 26-year-old Hastings man was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and was released on bail, pending further enquiries, police said.

Sussex Police says an investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.

A police spokesperson said: "An investigation has concluded her death was not related to the fire and a coroner's inquest will not take place."

Sussex Police is appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
