Sompting councillor guilty of Chichester buggy theft

Paul Mansfield was found guilty of theft at Portsmouth Magistrates' Court

An Adur councillor who sits on the Sussex Police and Crime Panel has been found guilty of stealing a children's buggy.

Sussex Police confirmed Paul Mansfield, 60, of Avon Close, Sompting, was ordered to pay a total of £875, including a £64 victim surcharge.

The remainder was made up of £500 to the Crown Prosecution Service, a £161 fine, and £150 compensation.

He was found guilty at Portsmouth Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

The theft took place in Chichester on 28 August 2022.

Mr Mansfield sits as a substitute member on the Sussex Police and Crime Panel and is chairman of the authority's licensing committee.
