The family of a man who died in a car crash in 2023 have raised more than £1,500 for the weight loss programme he helped to run.

Josh Alexander, 21, died alongside his pregnant partner Jessica Poole, 18, in the crash at Woodchurch, near Ashford, Kent.

He ran weight management courses for Active Hastings in East Sussex.

His mother Becky Alexander is fundraising to help the programme continue.

She said: "He loved it, and he was so passionate about helping people lose weight, get fit, get healthy.

"After the accident we were really blown away by our local community, everyone was so kind, and generous, lots of local businesses supported us, people that we don't even know reached out to us.

"This is something we can give back to our local community to say thank you."

Ms Alexander added: "If we have to live in this world without him, at least we can do this for him."

Heidi Tambeh from Active Hastings said: "Becky's fundraising is what's keeping our project alive.

"The courses cost a lot of money to put on. What we don't want to do is pass the cost on to the participants. We don't want that to become a barrier to them.

"He was so passionate about the courses and he loved the work that he did. After he did his personal training qualification he really got into wanting to help people.

"I think he's going to be looking down being so pleased the work that he put in is continuing."
