Plan to build school in Stockton's Preston Park dropped

Plans to build a school in a popular Teesside park have been dropped.

Preston Park in Stockton was one of a number of sites under consideration for the new Egglescliffe School.

Stockton Council's cabinet, which is run as a power sharing arrangement with a Conservative leader, has now voted to rule out that option.

Others, including increasing the size of nearby Ingleby Barwick's All Saints School or rebuilding it on the existing site, are being looked at.

Some local people had expressed concern over the impact the Preston Park option would have on green space in the area.
