Baroness Grey-Thompson is to be honoured by Teesside University for the second time.

The paralympic champion will be awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws degree during a ceremony at the end of November.

It is in addition to the honorary Master of Science she received in 2001.

Other recipients of honorary degrees include a locally-born Nasa astronaut, a television producer, and the female former manager of a blast furnace.

The award ceremonies will take place at Middlesbrough Town Hall between 23 and 25 November.

Professor Graham Henderson CBE, the University's Vice-Chancellor, said: "I am absolutely delighted that the University is honouring seven such distinguished, high achieving individuals.

"Their presence will be a great addition to our awards ceremonies and I'm sure our new graduates and their guests will thoroughly enjoy hearing them tell the story of their success."
