A similar bench was installed in Stewart Park after the MP's death
A tribute to the late Teesside MP Ashok Kumar has been unveiled in a Middlesbrough park.
The commemorative bench was installed in Stewart Park and a tree planted near it in honour of Mr Kumar, who died of natural causes in 2010 aged 53.
His brother, Ravi Kumar Sahnan, took part in the ceremony, which was organised by Middlesbrough Council.
He said it would be a reminder of his brother's "energy and passion and his love for the North East".
Dr Kumar added: "He was a great man in our eyes and will remain in our heart forever."
A Middlesbrough Council spokeswoman said: "Ashok loved Middlesbrough and its heritage, so it is fitting that this tribute should be in Stewart Park."
The Labour MP had represented Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland since 1997, after becoming MP for the ancestor seat of Langbaurgh in 1991.
