Redcar Beacon hits 100,000 visitor mark

Redcar's £1.6m seaside tower has passed the 100,000 visitor mark less than four months after opening.
The Redcar Beacon, originally dubbed the "vertical pier", stands 80ft (24m) above the town's seafront.
Council leader George Dunning said the figures were "absolutely fantastic". "When the sun comes out in Redcar we get lots of people here," he said.
Admission to the beacon, which offers views of the coastline and the Cleveland Hills, is free.
