IPCC to probe Cleveland Police 'discrimination' ruling

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is to investigate allegations of victimisation and discrimination in Cleveland Police.
PC Nadeem Saddique has alleged he was forced out of the force's firearms unit and resented by colleagues due to his race.
An employment tribunal in November concluded the majority of his claims "were well founded".
The IPCC said it was now investigating the "serious concerns" raised.
The matter was referred to the IPCC by Cleveland Police following the judgement.

IPCC commissioner Mary Cunneen, said: "The employment tribunal judgement raises serious concerns which potentially impact on the confidence in Cleveland Police, not just from the public, but also the employees of the force.
"It is therefore important that an independent investigation is conducted to examine the concerns thoroughly."
Mr Saddique, from Stockton, joined the force in 1991. He was the only Asian member of the force's firearm's unit.
