Voters will go to the polls on 12 December to choose members of Parliament to represent them.

There are 35 constituencies in the North East and Cumbria and some look likely to become key battlegrounds.

In addition, there is the issue of Brexit - the region voted almost unanimously to leave the EU, with the only exceptions being the Newcastle and South Lakeland areas.
