Lovesick tortoise on the run on Teesside sparked large search

When a tortoise went missing from his home the appeal to find him sparked huge interest on social media.

Thomas the sulcata tortoise is thought to have roamed for miles around farmland near Yarm, Teesside, in search of a mate before breaking cover close to his home.

More than 800 people shared foster owner Tina Ogden's online appeal, with many offering to help search on foot.
