Darlington van driver admits causing teen passenger's death

A van driver has admitted causing the death of his teenage passenger by careless driving.
Philip Plews, 17, died at the scene when a transit van driven by Luke Ford crashed on the A67 Carmel Road South, Darlington, in February 2022.
Ford, now 20, of Longfield Road, Darlington, appeared at Teesside Crown Court on Monday where he pleaded guilty to the charge.
He will be sentenced when he appears at the same court on 7 May.
In a tribute released shortly after his death, Mr Plews' family said: "If our love could have saved you my boy, you would have lived forever."
