Thieves steal North Tyneside war memorial plaque
- Published
A war memorial plaque has been stolen from a North Tyneside college.
The plaque contained the names of former students who died in World War I.
It was removed from the entrance to Tynemouth College in North Shields, overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday.
Police have appealed for anyone who saw or heard anyone suspicious, or who has been offered the item for sale, to get in touch.
A Northumbria Police spokesman said: "This memorial plaque commemorated students who gave their lives for their country, and this type of theft is particularly distressing for their families."
