Hadrian's Wall receives £500k boost

The money will be spent on parts of the central section of the wall
Hadrian's Wall has received more than £500,000 from the SITA Trust.
The world heritage site was granted the money for conservation of parts of the central section of the wall which are on the Heritage at Risk register.
It will also go towards access improvements and signage at locations along the wall. The project will be managed by Hadrian's Wall Heritage.
Conservation work will begin in May and the full project is expected to be completed in August 2013.
Hadrian's Wall Heritage is responsible for the care, protection and management of the site from the Roman coastal defences at Ravenglass north through Whitehaven, Workington and Maryport to Bowness-on-Solway, along Hadrian's Wall through Carlisle to Newcastle, Wallsend and South Shields. The Roman frontier was administered from Carlisle.
