Sunderland council proposes third council tax freeze

Sunderland City Council has proposed a council tax freeze for a third time.

The measure, part of the council's 2013/2014 budget, was unveiled at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

If approved, it will be the third year running that council tax has been frozen in the city. A final decision will be made 6 March.

Sunderland City Council leader Paul Watson, said the proposal recognised the "challenges" facing all residents of the city.
