New arrangements designed to stop people parking illegally have been introduced at a Tyneside hospital.
Patients and visitors arriving at South Tyneside District Hospital will also be able to park closer to wards from Wednesday, the NHS trust said.
The hospital's chief operating officer Helen Ray said the new system, which uses number plate recognition technology, would be "more efficient" and "convenient".
Parking charges will remain the same.
