Petrol bombs thrown in Burnopfield armed siege

A man involved in a stand-off with armed police was filmed hurling petrol bombs at officers.

The resident, who is understood to have called police himself, barricaded himself inside a house on Lintz Terrace, Burnopfield, County Durham.

An eye-witness told the BBC he saw "up to seven" explosive projectiles thrown.

Durham Constabulary said officers entered the property at 11:30 BST and a 47-year-old man has been arrested for threats to kill and criminal damage.

More than a dozen officers, including negotiators, had been at the scene since Tuesday afternoon.

No-one was injured.
