Maya Chappell: Mother Dana Carr faces court over death

A mother charged over the death of her two-year-old daughter in County Durham has appeared in court.
Maya Chappell was found in a critical condition at a house in Shotton Colliery on 28 September and died in hospital two days later.
Dana Carr, 24, of Shotton Colliery, has been charged with allowing the death of a child and child cruelty.
She did not enter a plea when she faced Newton Aycliffe magistrates on Wednesday and was remanded in custody.
She is due to appear at Teesside Crown Court on Friday.
In October, 26-year-old Michael Daymond, also of Shotton Colliery, was charged with Maya's murder.
It is believed Mr Daymond had been in a relationship with Ms Carr.
He is also due to appear at Teesside Crown Court on Friday.
