Deadline to find new manager for Wallsend community farm

A deadline has been set for potential new managers of a community farm to come forward.
The previous operator of the Rising Sun Farm, in Wallsend, had to return it to North Tyneside Council in October 2022 after filing for insolvency.
The council has given potential operators of the farm, worth £3.6m, until 26 April to express an interest.
North Tyneside's Labour deputy mayor, Councillor Carl Johnson said the farm was an "asset."
The authority took over the farm, which has chickens and geese, after the Rising Sun Farm Trading Company went bust, the local Democracy Reporting Service said.
'Farm thriving'
The council wants a new manager to sign a 40-year lease on the farm, and wants to hand it over by 1 September.
It said it had made improvements and repairs ready for the next manager, including bringing electricals into compliance and fixing the farm's septic tank and damaged fences.
Mr Johnson added: "We pressed the council to secure the site and invest in the farm to ensure this valuable community and cultural asset be secured long term.
"It is right the council takes time to get the right operator. I look forward to the farm thriving for many years to come."
