Melksham residents to have say on new leisure centre

  • Published

People in Melksham are being invited to give their views on what should go in a new multi-purpose leisure centre.

Wiltshire Council wants to build a new "community campus" to bring nine local facilities, including a library, pool and youth centre, under the same roof.

The existing buildings are said to be too expensive to run due to their age and condition.

The authority said money would be spent on improving services rather than the upkeep and running costs of buildings.

Easy access

A spokesman said the campus would provide the services the community needs in one easy-to-access location, making "maximum and efficient use of the council's buildings" and delivering more for the local community.

People will be able to have their say via a questionnaire available on the council's website, at Melksham library, the Christie Miller Sports Centre and the Blue Pool.

Copies have also been delivered to a random sample of 2,000 households across the Melksham area.

The closing date for responses is Friday 10 September.
