Vehicles' ABS braking cables cut in north Swindon

  • Published

Seven vehicles in north Swindon have had their ABS braking cables cut in just over two weeks.

Wiltshire Police said the incidents had all happened between 13 and 30 September.

Officers have been delivering letters to residents in the affected areas to advise on protecting their vehicle and what to do if it happens to them.

Insp Pete Chamberlain said a warning light would appear on the dashboard of damaged vehicles.

The incidents have happened in Oberon Way, Henman Close, Ray Close, Lyme Way and Bowles Road.

Insp Chamberlain said: "Importantly there is no immediate danger to people if they use their vehicles and find that their ABS cables have been damaged.

"A warning light should appear on the dash if they have been damaged, but general braking will be normal.

"However, people should be careful if braking heavily especially in wet conditions.

"If people find they have been affected by this they should seek advice from their local garage/dealership as soon as possible and if believed deliberate should report this to police."
