Housing development plan for Lydiard Park rejected

A proposal to build 175 houses on parkland near Swindon has been turned down.
Developer Primegate Properties appealed after its plan to build on Lydiard Park was rejected by Swindon Borough Council last year.
The results of the four-day inquiry have now been released and the inspector agreed with the council to deny the application.
Lorraine Williams, of Lydiard Fields Action group, said she was delighted.
"I'm really pleased that common sense has prevailed," she said.
