Wiltshire father saves daughter's school by buying it

A father from Wiltshire has saved his three-year-old daughter's school from closure by buying it.

Matt Hill, 38, from Seend Cleeve put in an offer for Mill School in Potterne near Devizes after its owner of 18 years decided to sell it.

All of the existing staff and 65 pupils will now remain at the school, including Mr Hill's daughter Olivia.

Mr Hill, who runs an adult education business, said: "There was too much good about it to let it close."

He added: "Our daughter had only started there a couple of months ago and when we came down to look at it we fell in love with the place.

"It's been going since 1958 and as a 400-year-old mill, has a wealth of history and tradition, and the scholarship rate is 80%."

Deputy Head, Sylvia Parry said the gratitude she felt towards Mr Hill was "more than words could say".
